The Artist

Dana Zurzolo is an artist and educator working in Santa Barbara. Initially a self-taught artist, she began creating patterns for embroidery in her youth, moving on to large graphic posters,  pictorial quilts, and eventually designing commercial banners and flags after college. After traversing many professional jobs and fields, she returned to school for digital art and graphic design.

Zurzolo taught art and design at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA for sixteen years. She has lead workshops in art, design, surface design and quilt-making, teaching myriad age and special interest groups. Her passion for teaching comes from a keen desire to share and connect with others through color, form and content.

She has an Masters of Fine Arts from Plymouth University in the U.K.; an M.A. in Learning Technology from Pepperdine University, and a B.A. in Social Thought and Political Economy with high honors from University of Massachusetts/Amherst.

Now she paints, designs textiles and makes commissioned custom bags from repurposed and found materials. like climbing ropes, used belts, quilts, sailcloth, kimonos, tablerunners, tents and old silk.
